Youth Closure

Dear Bridge Academy and YouthBuild students and parents,

Michigan Works! is following the guidance from the State of Michigan to close operations until April 13th in order to contain the spread of COVID-19. This closure brings up many uncertainties and sudden changes. The top priority of the Bridge Academy, YouthBuild, and it’s staff is to ensure the safety and well-being of students while this halt in operations occurs. The following procedures will continue from Monday, March 16th until Friday, April 10th.

Communication- A private Facebook group has been set up for current Bridge Academy students only, called Bridge Academy Family. Staff will regularly post updates, announcements and resources. All Bridge Academy students will be invited and encouraged to join this group.

Academics- All students will continue to have access to Edgenuity and complete courses. There is still an expectation for students to complete 80 activities per week. If students do not have the necessary technology, Chromebooks can be dropped off to home upon request.

Vocational- Students will be able to continue to earn tickets and receive vocational class credit for virtual attendance and participation in daily vocational activities . Classes and activities will be posted daily in the Bridge Academy Facebook group, and you must complete them to continue to earn class credit and tickets, so please make sure to join the group and check in every school day.

Support Services- Staff will still be available through e-mail, Facebook, Edgenuity messenger and phone. If a student has needs that come up, staff will work together as usual to solve them. It is our main goal to care for students during this long break in regular school.

Food- The Benton Harbor community food program will supply meals and for youth 0-18 years old at select pick up locations. In addition, we will use our normal transportation routes to drop off breakfast and lunch meals on regular basis. Food drop off schedules will be set up the week of March 16th and details will be share via Facebook as soon as the plan is established.

We will keep you posted via the Bridge Academy and YouthBuild Facebook pages.
